About Lady May

With some of the longest legs in the business, and some of the most dangerous curves, Lady May is putting the ‘grrrr’ back into ‘Showgirrrrl’!
Fierce. Fabulous. Formidable
Starting cabaret life as a stage manager at Proud City London, Lady May was seduced by the crowds’ applause. Carving out a naughty niche as the Glamazonian performer of the London burlesque and pin-up scene, Lady May has since performed and posed across the UK – with notable performances including:
  • Cabaret Roulette
  • Hundred Watt Cub
  • Dawn Gracie’s Starlet Burlesque show.
Unique. Unapologetic. Decadent. Dominant. Glamazonian.
Festival appearances include:
  • ‘Best of Burlesque’ at Edinburgh Fringe
  • London Burlesque Festival
  • 1st Sheffield Burlesque Festival
In 2016, Lady May was chosen to appear at the Belfast Burlesque Festival ‘Tease O’Rama’ show, and honoured to be a poster girl for the festival!

A graduate of The Cheek of It! School of Burlesque and Cabaret she soon progressed to becoming a member of the teaching staff there, sharing founder Lady Cheek's values of 'Inspiration, Empowerment and Fun', and was recognised with a fabulous title, becoming Head Girl in December 2013. What followed was 3 years of gin, glitter and good times, such as inspirational visits to see Dita at the Crazy Horse in Paris, nights out and oodles of community spirit. As a teacher at the school, Lady May has had the opportunity to spread her unique brand of body-confidence, sass, and stage presence to 100's of students, teaching:
  • Showtime beginners’ troupes
  • Act audits for advanced students on the Spotlight and Sirens courses
  • Hen parties
  • 1:1’s for private clients
  • Skills workshops and summer schools for clients such as NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association).
When stepping down as Head Girl at the school to pursue new projects after 3 fun-filled years, Lady May was honoured with an award in her name, to pass to future generations for their contribution to sisterhood! She remains a dedicated 'Cheekette' big sister to past and present students, and to the broader 'newbie' community, and a tassel-tutor for hire!

"Lady May is an incredible woman. I can’t remember the exact circumstances of how we came to be friends (I imagine social media had something to do with it!) but it was right back in the early days of my photography career and we bonded over a mutual love for the world of burlesque. During that time, its not only been a privilege to watch her spread her wings as a performer on stage and develop her own sensational blend of Glamazon fierce, but find her place in the London burlesque community as a mentor and role model for new burlesque performers."
- Tigz Rice, Photographer and Retoucher

"“Lady May ..came highly recommended and when I had a show with a Femme Fatale theme Lady May's Ride was the perfect fit.  Sexy and alluring the act enticed and taught our audience a lesson.  On stage she comes to life as a powerful and sexy mistress.  Off stage she is a joy to work with and I will be booking her again.”."
- Little Lady Luscious, Producer
“Watching Lady May is like a forbidden treat: she embodies a fierce sensuality, combined with a fascinating stage presence. The captivating darkness of her acts is a rare find in neo burlesque today and a pleasure to behold!"
